CODEPINK Actions During the RNC
CODEPINK Women for Peace has a delegation of activists from around the country on the ground in Tampa this week protesting the Republican agenda and specifically calling out the GOP war on women’s rights. CODEPINK will demonstrate at both the RNC and DNC to hold both parties accountable for ongoing support for war and killer drones, misuse of national resources in the face of economic recession, and corporate money in politics. CODEPINK activists have already coordinated and participated in numerous actions surrounding the RNC including a protest at Raytheon in St. Petersburg, a vagina-costumed demo outside Ralph Reed’s Faith & Freedom Coalition rally, the launch of “Millionaires for Mitt” outside the RNC Welcome Party at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg and at the Chevron-sponsored RNC welcome party in Tampa, and more.

“Fix Shit Up” is a coalition effort to voice opposition to the RNC agenda while giving back to the local community. Activists will help repair and weather houses and clean up neighborhoods. Quote from the outreach flyer: “We choose to arm ourselves, not with bricks or bombs, but with the only tools necessary to truly build: the desire, courage, and commitment to turn our dreams into reality… and maybe a few hammers, nails, and recycle bins!”

Details: Organized by a coalition of groups. CODEPINK codirector Medea Benjamin will speak at the rally.
“Women’s rights are taking a serious pounding from anti-choice legislation to economic inequality to wars overseas that steal resources needed for healthcare and education,” said CODEPINK co-director Medea Benjamin. “We’ll be at the RNC demanding respect, economic fairness and peace.”
“We are calling for people-powered elections that prioritize human needs over war and greed,” said CODEPINK co-director Jodie Evans. “Given the amount of corporate money in the election, the United States isn’t even attempting democracy anymore. We will be at both the RNC and DNC to shine a light on the lies and greed that continue to strip too many Americans of their rights, property and dignity.”
