Ramsey County Jail Call Two: Milholland’s Progress
Attempting to pin down the status of CODEPINKer Kathryn Milholland, arrested in the giant September 1st sweep that saw 284 others jailed on the fly, I called her cell, hoping she’d just, you know, pick up! And be like, Hello! I’m not in jail anymore!
Unfortunately, I had to leave a message and am now on hold with the Ramsey County Jail Administration. When the administrator gets back on the phone, she tells me Milholland is still awaiting charges. The “huge batch of people [arrested] all at one time” has apparently created a “backlog,” according to the administrator on the phone.
Although we were told that the original release time was expected to be noon today, she can be held until 4:50 today at which point she will either be released or charged. We are asked to call back at that time.

Talked to Kathryn today and she is doing okay still. They are eating pb&j and formed a brief hunger strike for a girl who was anemic and wasn’t receiving iron, the gurl is okay now and they ended the strike. I told her about all the efforts everyone is making to make sure she is okay and she was really touched and thanks everyone who is there for her. I told her that her Codepink family is behind her and that Deidra has been calling the jail to check up on her status and she thanks you all!! Right now I’m awaiting to hear what her charges will be and am keeping her family and friends informed! thanks for posting all thr updates you find and i’ll keep you posed if i hear anything new* peace <3

Hi Cristina, Thanks for the update! Actually it’s Anne who’s been calling the jail—and her cell—Deidra’s been swamped managing the store! She’ll be released or charged in about an hour, though, so we;ll all know more then!

Hmmm, I guess that Deirdre has been calling regularly too.
But perhaps more interestingly, Coldsnap just called to explain she’d been released at 3 p.m. Not true! I called at 3:20. Seems to be some confusion going on.

Any further news on Kathryn? It’s now 1820 5 Sept. Surely she’s out by now?

Kathryn is out and well and on her way back to her home in Florida. We hope to post an update from her soon.
