Despite the charming image in the upper left corner, this blog Meaningful Distractions has an amazing, dead-on analysis of yesterday’s New York Times (at least, the analysis the creators hoped readers would make). The author writes:
Yes, it’s a big, enormous, all-encompassing title, but it deserves it. I’d like to give everyone involved a big hug for their brilliance, but instead I’ll just have to shower them with praise. You are the best.
The entire thing is a well thought out piece of hope. Inside, articles deal with issues like Universal health care and maximum wages for CEOs. There are even fake ads! There is also a timeline describing the gains brought about by eight months of progressive support and pressure, culminating in President Obama’s “Yes we REALLY can” speech.
Nice.

STAND UP FOR SAME-SEX MARRIAGE RIGHTS
Fight the H8: Protest Proposition 8
NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION FOR LGBT RIGHTS
Saturday, November 15
12:30pm
Government Center Plaza
350 S. 5th St., downtown Minneapolis
(In front of the Hennepin County Government Center, next to the Light Rail)Invite people on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=44139859622
Please bring your own signs and banners in support of LGBT rights and marriage equality!
While celebrations erupted Tuesday night over the election of the first African American president, many also watched in sadness as California, Arizona, and Florida voted down marriage equality for LGBT people. Since then, tens of thousands have taken to the streets to oppose this discrimination and declare that the right to marry the person you love is a fundamental human right, regardless of sexual orientation!
Saturday, November 15th has been called as a National Day of Action in support of LGBT rights (see http://www.jointheimpact.com). Tens of thousands will protest all over the country, in every state, declaring our opposition to all forms of discrimination and demanding an end to homophobia – and to help launch a new civil rights movement, for full equality for gays, lesbians, and transgender people.
This is an issue of equal rights for all Americans! Stand up and make your voice heard! Join us in pressuring the California government to overturn Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriage.
SPREAD THE WORD! Please pass this e-mail on and alert your friends, classmates, co-workers, family members, progressive groups, etc.

Hi everyone who was at the meeting tonight -
Below is an e-mail I was intending to send out over our Facebook event, except that has now gotten too large and they won’t let us send out messages to anyone through it anymore – which is bad news, but also a good sign! But if you can please pass the word along!

Hi Lark!
Ahh, sorry! I assumed (in a heteronormative way) by the image at the top, you were a dude (and I wasn’t a huge fan when I saw it because it seemed more objectifying/sexualizing of women’s bodies, esp. with the chest so prominent and a face missing). BUT it’s not a huge deal, I really love your site, it’s a very clever, very fun concept and thanks so much for posting about the faux paper and its message of hope!
