The war in Afghanistan is escalating.  In recent weeks, both the House and the Senate have approved Obama’s supplemental bill which includes funding for the additional 21,000 troops set to deploy to Afghanistan.  As CODEPINK protests this escalation and looks for alternative solutions, it is important that we educate ourselves about the history, culture, and needs of the Afghan people.  

Earlier this month, CODEPINK LA hosted a salon with documentary filmmakers and journalists Paul Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Gould, authors of the recent book “Invisible History: Afghanistan’s Untold Story.”  Fitzgerald and Gould were the first American journalists to acquire visas to Afghanistan in 1981 and later produced the documentary Afghanistan Between Three World.  They have covered Afghanistan for over three decades.  Ryan Croken wrote a great synopsis and review of “Invisible History” over at Truthout.  Check it out.
